It is my personal belief that no culinary experience is complete without a good bottle of wine. But even without the culinary experience…simply enjoying a gorgeous view, accompanied by the sublime nectar of a bottle of red, white or bubbly is enough to relax and titillate the senses.
There is a beautiful quote from one of my favourite movies, “A Good Year” – with Russel Crowe, where young Max is chatting to his uncle Henry, and Uncle Henry says, “Max, have I told you why I enjoy making wine so much?” Max responds by saying, “You don't make the wine, Uncle Henry - that guy Duflot does”, to which Henry reproachfully replies, …..
“In France it's always the landowner who makes the wine, even though he does nothing more than supervise with binoculars from the comfort of his study. No, I enjoy making wine, because this sublime nectar is quite simply incapable of lying. Picked too early, picked too late, it matters not - the wine will always whisper into your mouth with complete, unabashed honesty every time you take a sip.”
Let me repeat that: “THE WINE WILL ALWAYS WHISPER INTO YOUR MOUTH…” Sounds seductive doesn’t it? And the truth is, although drinking a moderate amount of wine can arouse and be an erotic experience, much more than that amount will have the reverse affect.
So, for a lingering whisper, one should then always choose a good quality wine, and let the sublime nectar slowly fill your mouth.
